Music Show #115 – 9/7/2018 – Telling Our Stories: Part 12

Another show in a series dedicated to encouraging us all to share our stories.

This month’s story: The Secret of the Smoke Ring Kids” – I was a boy on the verge of becoming a man and I was ready to enjoy the full-flavored taste of my first cigarette.

Song #1 “Puttin’ on the Style” – New verses to a traditional folk song originally written at the turn of the 19th century. It’s a song about the different “styles,” i.e. facades that many folks put on to go through life.

Song #2 “Thirty Long Years and More” – A joyful song about the struggles and rewards of being a songwriter. “Always be true to your song and you’ll always be where you belong.”

Song #3 “Life is Strange Enough” – Life is already strange enough without pushing our minds into another realm of distortion with recreational drugs.

Song #4 “You’ll Thank Me Later” – A song about preventing our friends from driving when they’ve had too much to drink.

Song #5 Brown Paper BagA song inspired by the teen practice from the 60s of getting high from huffing airplane glue in paper bag.

Song #6 “Remember It All” – An uplifting song about remembering those precious moments in our lives.
